Halloween with kids in Luxembourg 2026: what’s on

Moien! 🎃

Halloween is coming, and there is a lot on for kids this year. I have put it all in one place for you, with dates, ages and prices.

Good to know: Halloween is on a Saturday this year, the first day of the Toussaint holidays (31 October to 8 November). So there is plenty of time to fit something in.

One tip: family events here sell out fast. If something needs booking, book it now. And check the organiser’s page before you set off, just in case.

Quick picks

  • Free: the Halloween Trail on Friday 30 October, and the activities in the Philharmonie foyers on 24 and 25 October.
  • For babies and toddlers: Hoppla at Rotondes this weekend (not Halloween, but too good to leave out), and the 0–3 corner at the Philharmonie.
  • Something very Luxembourgish: carving a Trauliicht at the A Possen museum on 31 October.
  • A day out in the north: the Halloween maze and ghost train at Park Sënnesräich.

This weekend: Hoppla, a festival for babies and toddlers

OK, this one is not Halloween at all. 🙂 But it is on this weekend, it is brand new, and it is for the little ones, so I could not leave it out. Rotondes and neimënster are putting on sensory shows, workshops and installations for the very youngest.

  • When: Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October
  • Where: Rotondes (Bonnevoie) and neimënster (Grund), Luxembourg City
  • Ages: 6 months to 5 years
  • Book: most shows need a ticket; Hide and Seek is free
  • More: rotondes.lu

A treasure hunt in the hedge maze (it is called the “Labooorinthe”, yes, with three o’s 👻), a ghost train called the Halloween Express along a dark path through the trees, and a Halloween menu in the bistro. A proper day out.

  • When: Saturday 17 October to Sunday 8 November, Tuesday to Sunday 10:00–16:30 (last entry 16:00). Mondays are not listed, so check before you go.
  • Where: 30 Duarrefstrooss, Lullange (Wincrange), in the north
  • Price: per child, €5.50 for the Labooorinthe and €3.50 for the Halloween Express
  • More: sennesraich.lu

Trunk or Treat at Differdange Castle

If you have never heard of Trunk or Treat: decorated cars are parked in a row, and children go from one car boot to the next collecting sweets. There are also Halloween games, face painting and a food truck. Costumes are welcome, and it is open to everyone, not only club members.

  • When: Saturday 17 October, 12:00–15:00 (last admission 14:00)
  • Where: Differdange Castle, 1 Impasse du Château, Differdange
  • Price: €20 per child, adults free
  • Book: registration required, on the AWCL event page

Familljefestival Halloween at the Philharmonie

This is the big one. The Philharmonie turns into one big Halloween festival for the whole weekend, with something for every age. And a lot of it is free.

  • When: Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, from 10:00
  • Where: Philharmonie Luxembourg, Kirchberg
  • Free in the foyers: a monster factory, spooky face painting and hairstyles, a musical quiz, an instrument carousel, a corner for 0–3s and a Chantons Halloween sing-along

The shows with tickets (book these early):

  • Hopeless at Horror, also listed as Les sous-doués de l’horreur and Die Grusel-Loser: a show without words, so the language does not matter. Saturday 15:00, Sunday 11:00 and 15:00, ages 7–12. Sunday 15:00 is waiting list only, but the last tickets are sold in person an hour before.

Same weekend, down in the Grund. The old abbey goes full witchcraft: shows, concerts and workshops, and on Saturday evening storytelling and singing with sound and light effects. Costumes are encouraged.

If your children are old enough (and you have the energy :D), you could do this and the Philharmonie in the same weekend. The full programme is not out yet, so check the page closer to the date.

  • When: Saturday 24 October 14:00–20:00, and Sunday 25 October from 11:00
  • Where: neimënster, 28 rue Münster, Grund, Luxembourg City
  • Ages: 5+
  • Price: €15, reduced €9, €1.50 with the Kulturpass
  • More: neimenster.lu

Halloween Trail: free trick-or-treating on a map

I really like this one. The houses taking part are marked on a map, so you know exactly which doors to knock on. No more knocking at a door that is not expecting you. 🙂 Use the map on your phone or print it out. This year it runs in Merl, Howald, Hesperange, Itzig, Alzingen and Fentange, and it is organised by LetzCelebrate.

  • When: Friday 30 October, 16:00–20:00
  • Price: free
  • Sign up: children register on the site, also free
  • Map: halloweentrail.com

Carve a Trauliicht at the A Possen museum

Did you know Luxembourg has its own lantern for this time of year? The Trauliicht is carved from a beet, not a pumpkin. At this workshop the whole family carves one together, and then you cook soup with the leftover vegetables. Nothing goes to waste.

  • When: Saturday 31 October, 14:00–17:30
  • Where: Musée A Possen, 2 Keeseschgässel, Bech-Kleinmacher
  • Price: adults €30, children over 4 €15, under-4s free. Children must come with an adult.
  • Book: required, on +352 23 69 73 53 or [email protected]
  • More: visitluxembourg.com

Just over the border

If you do not mind a drive:

  • Village Kids, Arlon (Belgium): inflatables and activities at the Hall Polyvalent, Thursday 29 October to Sunday 1 November, ages 2–12. Sessions 10:00–14:00 and 15:00–19:00, book online at villagekids.be
  • Walloween at Walygator, Maizières-lès-Metz (France): 17 October to 1 November, on selected days, so check the calendar
  • Bêtes et Sorcières, Château de Malbrouck (France): 20 to 31 October. The evening shows on 23, 24, 30 and 31 October are for ages 8+ and need booking.
  • Halloween at Eifelpark Gondorf (Germany): 2 to 18 October, 10:00–17:00

After Halloween

Children wear a costume for one evening, and then it lives in a cupboard for a year. Once Halloween is over, put this year’s on Pass It On, so another family has one ready for next October.

Did I miss something?

If you are organising something for families this Halloween, or you found an event that is not here, tell me! Use the Feedback button or get in touch, and I will add it.

Have a lovely (and not too scary) Halloween! 🎃

Bis geschwënn,
Noemi
